    Justin,

    No.

The chassis numbers are all accounted for as are all the spares. There is nothing left.

Now, there were the Glockler cars---six---but only one had a 4-cam and that was 12213 which was finished June 1954 and received 547-02. All Glockler cars were finished by Glockler, not Porsche.

There was no "bake-off" of individual craftsmen that I know of nor do any records suggest one.

      My apologies to all.

      Carrera GT sniffed it out.

The part about the engine having overhead cams must have been me mis-remembering dad's stories.

I just got off the phone with my uncle Norman that (at 86 or so) is quite certain he remembers it being a 1500 Super. The seats and other things were unique to the car so far as they know, (and aircraft belts probably installed by the first owner / gentleman racer).. but my uncle doesn't remember if it had OHC or not,.. and it looks like it almost certainly didn't.

The car was notably different from the light blue 1953 that another Uncle bought new in Ypsilanti Michigan.

My uncle Norman is sending me 2 large boxes of Porsche books, including 1/2 dozen or so bound issues of Christophorus Magazine from way back.

Again, sorry for the fools errand. My father passed last December,.. so there's lots of questions I simply can't ask him anymore.

No factory bake-offs huh Steve. Thanks again!

Sorry to hear about the loss of your father Stuart. For better or worse you are least now putting together a more accurate description on what your fathers old car actually was. Looking forward to updates.

            Joris,

Good question. I thought sales would start at the Museum store today (the Museum is closed on Mondays).

But---I was told that the books have not yet been delivered to Porsche.

Given this---I now think early December is roughly when I will be delivering books from here.

            Hey---think Christmas gifts!!

              Steve,

Does the book list all the chassis numbers of these Carrera-engined cars? And colors and equipment too?

              Thanks,
              Ed

                Ed,

Yes, all the chassis numbers and motor numbers and colors---ALL. And, as to some, some of the equipment especially when noteworthy and significant.

                      Steve,
A car which slipped through my fingers 26 years ago. If you remember, you very nicely gave me some help a couple of years ago, but now I will have a complete set of data.

                        Ed,

Ah, yes....and I have forgotten before. Sorry. When you get the book, let's talk and see if we can narrow down the search a little.

                          Guys and Gals,

So, here is the deal (I think):

                          1) I believe that the book will be on sale at the Museum shop next week (he said, hopefully. So, best bet is to go there.

                          2) I am told that I will receive the first 250 books of the ones I will sell will get airfreighted Monday or Tuesday to my undisclosed California location (my home) and should arrive by week's end.

                          3) Special Editions will not be available until late December (see the web sites that explain them).

                          4) No excuses and not looking for sympathy, but I have been dealing with major health issues since April and...rotator cuff surgery less than two months ago. I expect to be fine in the long haul----but as for now---I cannot travel, only drive a mile to Starbucks and, cannot put tape on the boxes to send books to complete orders.

                          5) BUT---I have 356 friends and between my direction and their actual work----we'll get the books out.

                          6) So---if you want a book (or several for your friends), go to:

                          www.biglakemedia.com or www.4-cam.com

There you can find an order form and buy the book and other books and more.

Shop early, buy a lot and buy the poster where money goes to lung cancer research.

                            Steve,
How to proceed to buy a limited edition?
                            Thanks,
                            Ed

                              Ed,

Place the order but just know that it will be a few more weeks. The upholstery shop with real Porsche leather, etc. is very cool but a slow process. They (Porsche) have never done this before.

                                Hey Steve,
I'm having trouble getting my fax book order to you at (650)343-3193.
Also, tel. number (775)691-1217 is no longer in service.
                                Any ideas or advice?
I indicated to you some time ago that I wanted a book which you confirmed...., does that mean I have priority for my order once you receive my faxed order form?
