Hello Joel. Hopefully you didn't understand me wrong!
As so many others I've read a lot about Steve's new book
and the updates when it will be finished.
So now I'm really waiting for the day to hold it in my hands..
By the way-thanks for the translation of my nick.
Metal Tormentor sounds really good
Hallo Gerd,
Thank you for your clarification. This medium is prone to misinterpretation due to it's one dimensional nature. Many
of us await the birth of Steve's newest offering. It's complexity,
actual and logistically, make for an extended period of gestation.
It's been said that good things come to those who wait, which would
indicate an excellent read in our future.
Alles bestens,
Joel
No one more than moi wants the book done, printed and out! Part of the problem is complexity and some detail, etc. I assure you that, even today, there was a little back and forth regarding making sure we had the 356 "RS" Coupes and Speedsters were properly explained. I do think all the last gasp changes/fixes will be finished this week. Both Herr Sprenger and I, and, happily, Porsche wants this all as correct as possible, even though there will be some errors.
Hang in there, my friends.

ps--Interesting article re Abarths in the latest
Excellence magazine. Great magazine! Seriously. Still--the actual story of whom built them will be in the book together with the specific spare B chassis numbers and how many (hint: 20 not 21---this fact was well documented in the Registry magazine which relied upon information from Marco Marinello; we will also note the specific spare B chassis used to make 1021--and it ain't a Abarth---exactly as Marco noted).
Once again, I take to the Forum to note that we are closer but not quite there. As of now, I believe we will not have a July print start. I think printing will start early August (processing of final changes has taken longer; everyone is working very hard). This means that the 18 September European availability is likely a little later.
I will probably have copies here for sale late September. Once I have a firmer date, I will then accept orders and checks and credit card numbers. I will not deposit or charge the cards until I ship the book.
Please note that the Special Editions will take perhaps two more months as the covers are made by Porsche's upholstery shop.
Books are remarkable for many reasons, two of which I'll mention here. They represent a distillation of the skill and efforts of the author. And that leads to a transfer and dissemination of information and knowledge.
I am sure this book will be a milestone for everyone who has interest in these little cars.
I am anxious to place an order for your book. Can I place an order directly with you or must I go through the Delius Klasing website?
I live in Ontario, Canada.
It is still a little unclear as to Canada (I mean regarding the book; I'm clear it is north---heh, heh).
The D-K sub may handle.
Still, you also will be able to buy from me. I believe the standard edition will be $150 + shipping (which I do not know at this moment) or about $400 for the Special Edition + the unknown shipping and not available until late October (I think).
We now have the final book proof and remain on track for 8-8 to printer.
If you are interested, please send me an email with name and address, etc. for shipping. Pricing is still expected as noted in prior post. Do not send payment info. I'll print and file your request and get back to you for payment data when ready to ship.
The book material went to Delius-Klasing a week or so ago for their final review and on to printer.
I was told today that end of September as to finish of printing, etc. was the schedule. That would mean mid-October availability in Europe and mid-October here. I am not so certain and would now expect early November availability here.
