P599 - Paramount Race #210 Vasek Polak listed as driving 550A-0130 (which is a silver 550A) The car is a white RS550
Polak may have raced it again at March 1958 Phoenix with start nr. 188. If that is the case, then Sugarman also raced 0081 in two events at that race. It is just as likely that they raced 550-0047. Finally, Polak and McAfee are listed at the March 1958 Stockton races with start nr. 188. Again, we hope to find photos or other evidence to correct those records.
In the yard photo, 550-09 has race #222. It only raced under that number on 31 May 1958, so I would assume any races around that time with #188 would be 550-0081
I know a great deal more about RSK chassis numbers than 550's, but I do recognize Ken Miles driving Vasek's car # 50 in the photo posted above. Hope I am not repeating someone else's observation...
This means that McAfee was still racing his red/white car after Eldon Beagle bought his silver 550A.
The current owner of 550A-0112 believes that McAfee/Herrmann raced it at Sebring. He also believes that Miles raced this car in 1957 California races. The front end of 550A-0112 looks very much like the car that either Miles or McAfee raced.
Miles quit racing 550A-0112 just before Beagle acquired his car. We are not sure, but it certainly seems unlikely that Beagle acquired his car from McAfee (Sugarman).
We are considering going back to our original listing of 550A-0112 as the Beagle car. We are also considering going back to our original listing of 550A-0116 as the McAfee red/white car after Beagle started racing his 550A. The problem remains that we do not understand the Beagle receipt which clearly shows Motor Nr. 90109 (original motor for 550A-0116).
