Also with Trotter, you have not included a race entry of him at Lime Rock in October 1959

      • Hello Everyone,

Steve Heinrichs has asked me to respond to Andrew's note that Joseph Trotter was entered in the October 1959 Lime Rock Season Finale.

We have added Trotter's race results to our results for that race.

17 October 1959 Lime Rock, Main race, Race 6 (Restricted, CM-GM), 550-0024, start nr. 717, Joseph Trotter, FM class, 8th OA.

We want to acknowledge Andrew's contributions to our effort to make the book as accurate as possible.

        • On P573 you have Sagan as race #18 - I believe it is #28 based on this photo

              • Hello Everyone,

Steve Heinrichs has asked me to respond to Andrew's comment at #24893
where he notes that at 15-16 June 1957, Paramount Ranch, McAfee is driving a 550 not 550A-0116. We agree with Andrew and reviewed our photos for a car with a truncated headrest as shown in the photo provided. We believe that McAfee and Levy were driving 550-0023 at that race. We believe this is the first 550 that McAfee drove for John Edgar. Below you will find a photo that shows Levy with this car at March 1957 Stockton. However, there are differences. For example in Andrew's photo you will see that there is no rubber bead on the nose of the car, but in the photo below, the rubber bead is present.

                • Hi Vietta,

It could be the same car based on the headrest shape which is not common. The car Levy is driving is silver, but the car McAfee is driving is red. If it is 0023, it was originally silver and I know Edgar did like his cars in red. The car could have been repainted between races and in the process, the rubber strip removed...?

                  • If it is 0023, it is very coincidental as I think it is currently at the Paris Retromobile on a stand!

                    • Hello Everyone,

Steve Heinrichs has asked me to respond to Andrew's post #25051. Andrew notes that Paul Sagan appears in a photo with start nr. 28 taped on his car.

We will stay with start nr. 18 for now for 2-3 September 1956 Thompson. We have a photo that I have attached below that is identified as September 1956 Thompson. Furthermore, our primary source says Sagan drove start nr. 18 at the September race. We do agree that Sagan raced with start nr. 28 at 7 October Thompson (his next race). We have not seen an entry list for either the September race or early October race and we don't have a photo of Sagan's car together with other cars with visible start nrs.

                      • Sorry, the previous photo I posted was a different race at Thompson. Here is the correct one for 2nd September 1956. You can see Conley in #133 and Grossman in #40. You can also see Cunningham in his Osca #60

                        • Hello Everyone,

Steve Heinrichs has asked me to respond to Andrew's point that both Muzzin and Bair are listed with 550A-0132 for races on the same day.

We agree that Muzzin is correct for 550A-0123. We will delete chassis nr. 550A-0123 from the 14 May 1960 Cumberland race results for Dick Bair. We will show Bair's race as unknown chassis nr.

                          • Hello Everyone,

Steve Heinrichs has asked me to respond to Andrew's photo and comment about Paul Sagan with start nr. 28 or 18 at September 1956 Thompson.

We agree with Andrew that Sagan did have start nr. 28 at the September 1956 Thompson race. The decisive photo shows start nr. 40 (Grossman), start nr. 60 (Cunningham Osca), start nr. 133 (Conley) and Sagan with start nr. 28. #25066

We will note this change in the Errata: September 1956 Thompson, Sagan with start nr. 18.

Our primary source misidentified our start nr. 18 as September 1956 Thompson. We believe our photo with start nr. 18 is really from 30 June-1 July 1956 Thompson and is Norm Christenson with his car 550-0022, which was originally a white car.
                            #25064

You will find Christenson's car listed correctly in the July 1956 Thompson race as start nr. 18 (page 567 in the book).

                            • A little bit out of my depth, but fascinating all the same. There was a Durlite built by Bob Webb approx 1956. It originally had a pushrod, but had a type 547 for the 58 season when raced by Jim Ray. In the June 1958 Road America it was pretty much destroyed in a crash.

Webb was commissioned to build a second car for Bob Staples and was raced by Chuck Richert and Staples which also had a 550 quad cam. You have one listed for Staples as 550-0059, but by the sounds of them, they were all built from scratch.
