Fairly Radical Outlaw Build in New Zealand

Sorry all, learning my way around this site. Think I posted this on Welcome Matt by mistake and have no idea how to delete. Will post a number of photos but having problems with them coming out upside down?

We are one year or so into an Outlaw build here in New Zealand. The car is essentially a copy of two of Rod Emory's cars blended into one project. I would have loved an Emory car but couldn't afford the folding $$$, so in typical New Zealand fashion we thought we'd 'give it a crack' and build one down here.



Started with a 1963 356B T6 Coupe that was found under a mango tree in Hawaii, purchased and rescued the car by good friends up there. The work from there has been extensive converting the car into a Cabriolet and then some. Think the pictures tell the story but 1300 hours of panel work to date.



The car will run original 356 engine, transmission (12 bolt) and suspension. However have gone early 911 rack & pinion steering for a giggle The engine will be a John Willhoit 2132cc mated to a fully rebuilt 741 transmission. Car has been converted from LHD to RHD, interior will be 944 seats cut down and built similar to early 911 seats. The leather will be Spinny Beck the same as the Singer Porchse.

Your situation sounds very familiar as I too, with limited funds had to figure out a way of making my dream happen myself dime at a time. Your basic build outline sounds great. By converting to Cabriolet do you mean Speedster or as you stated "cabriolet"?? Not sure what's going on with your photos are you sending them from a smart phone? I copied them, rotated upright then reposted. When you load more be sure to hit the "insert" button on each attachment so they will display. Place the curser in the text box and hit insert button that particular photo you wish displayed there. You can even edit and insert them between existing text. See your original post. We'll eventually get you going. Looking forward to your updates and more build details! Welcome once again!

Some interior photos. As we are chopping the hardtop by an inch and I'm 6'2" we have had to mount the seats onto the floor. This meant cutting the tunnel down, shaping 944 seats to an early 911 recaro seat, gear shifter moved back to a better position allowing for the above. You can see the rack and pinion steering through the front wheel well wall. Dash is hand built. SpinnyBeck leather the same as Singer Porsche going on the seats and interior.

Cute-down 57 Ford vent inserted in the cowl. Cool breeze on a hot day, this operated by a 12v actuator, hit the button it oops up or down.

My other 356, a 356B T6. Mild Outlaw here, everything can be changed back to the original factory look within 24 hours.
