I guess I was thinking NEW ROLLS. As for the old ones, I like the really old ones, but have never wanted to own one. Ok, back to P cars.

Hey Gordon,
That is a fantastic valuable sample to have found! Are you taking your car back to its original color? If so this just made your life alot simplier! The varients in shades your talking about all stem from independant mixing houses or local paint stores. They all have base mixing paints in the back and when you go in with your sample or paint code they create your desired color or shade based on a formula. The problem is if just one of those base pigments is off; mainly due to improper agitation before pouring or adding it. BTW once its poured the rest of the base color is now off and it will continue to throw off the later formulas or orders its added to until the can is empty or thrown away. This is mainly what creates all the varients in shades. Once this happens then your onto tinting and or lighting it to try for a match. So if your looking to a repainted car for the match its a gamble BUT you have the real deal there so your golden! Hope that made sense. JustinJustin Rio

Thanks Justin, It will make mixing the paint much easier.
This color would not be my first choice but it is original and
that caries a lot of weight on my decision.
I just finished spraying the black gunk on bottom side. It sure
hides a lot of sins (probably didn't have to do that good of metal
work if I would have known that) just kidding.

Looking good Gordon! Looks to be about 40 degrees in your shop. You're right Rocker shootz can hide alot of sin and many quick restorations rely on that camoflouge to do just that but I know you have nothing to hide and it almost a shame to conceal such nice metal work. Keep at it! JustinJustin Rio

gordon,
that original colour looks great. I wonder what colour upholstery it had new do you know? The black underbody spray looks fine. It always looks okay if it's put over a good repair. I must admit when I did my work a couple of places did need some filler straight on top of new metal! It's hidden but I know its there....

Looks real nice!
Here is my car during resto back in Feb 2010.
With the pans welded in.
Then with the prime coat on.
Final Inside paint on Pans.
And the underside w/o undercoat!
Chris and I talked and we elected to keep the undercoat off. It is primed with epoxy primer then the final black coat-high gloss.
They kid me because it doesn't get dirty.
I use Turtle Wax ICE on it.
That product does not leave any white residue.
I use it on both the Targa and Roadster-with their detailing spray to keep it spiffied up.
No water wash jobs on these cars!
Dick
PS Standing by for incoming!!

Thanks Dick, The tough part of covering all that nice metal for me was
the fact it was so time consuming getting the old off.
Your floors turned out real nice. Lot of satisfaction in that.
Roy, I am going to do the interior in a dark red with oatmeal carpet.
Here is a shot of the hides I am using.
Thanks, Gordon
