Gmund city is to day famous for hosting Helmut Pfeifhoffer Porsche museum
I have had the chance to visit this museum last September and posted some pics on this site
Amongst many fabulous cars one of the first Gmund aluminium never restored

In 1950 (one year before the 11 Gmund GT were built) Herbert Kaes was the first pilot to win a race in Italy with the first 356 Prototype

Every year in October the Stuttgart Porsche museum organise a "night of sound"
In 2011 the first car to be run was one of the Gmund car from the museum

I can't help wondering if the "mail slot" in the nose was characteristic of the late-build race cars and what was it's function?

My best Porsche experiance ever was the first time I meet Otto in his Oil/gas station.
This is in the early 1990. I was like a litle kid seeing all he good stuff that he had laying around.
It got even better when we were to meet again in a couple of days at his garage.
The first photo is taken outside the garage door and you can see the real Porsches behind.


Second photo is Otto himself.

Nowdays he drove Range Rovers with his old registration plate T-2222 on it that most of you know about today. In the backyard was old VW vans he been using in his bizniz... Also the extra Range Rovers that had broken down and just been parked in the back and Otto just bought a new car to drive.

PW, Thanks for sharing those shots of Otto and his shop! Love the photo of the aged and distressed building with his Gmund behind the glass! You were so very fortunate to have met and visited him there before his passing! Thanks again! Justin
