    Now we are in 1953
    Same car but with a different plate number
    I explained before that in Belgium car plate belong to individual not to cars
    1211 was Max Thirion personnal plate that he put on the 356/2 061 when she was new
    Nowadays the value of this plate, if for sale, will be huge
    In 1953 Gilberte put on her car her personnal plate 937669
    On this pic taken in June 1953 during the International Alps rallye the car is shown with quite big dents
    The front slot seems to have desapeared

        Re reading my post I will make 2 more comments
        On the last pic (Gilberte with Olivier) the front slot has gone but 2 large slots on the bumper have been added (brakes cooling ?)
        Now on the 4 guys discussing in front of 2 Gmund GT being assembled the correct names are from lrft to right

          Thanks Gerard! The "mail slot" opening's use could have evolved as needed I'm sure but looking at your first two photos today it looks like it was just an opening for the horn; at least on her car??

          WOW! The motor was flipped into the backseat for one of the races?? Heavy modifications there!

                I must say that I share Mr.Rio's astonishment (tho I would add a fair dose of skepticism) at the idea that: a)the engine could be turned around (big hole in bulkhead, pan under seat, cut torsion bar tube and alternate springs, new motor and (now) tail gearbox mounts, reverse r&p gearbox, etc.), and b)that this change could be reversed in the same car tub.

                Perhaps some issue with some translation of an account?

                    • The car is fitted with a "central engine" it will be the only and unique apparition of this car in this configuration
                      The car will finish 4th overall and 1st in class

                      SJ if you look the first pic with a magnifying glass you will see that there is no back seats but a big square box behind the front seats
                      Furthermore don't forget that we are in July 1954 one year after the first apparition of the 550 spyder
                      The Gmun GT cars had hard time racing
                      356/2 061 had several serious accidents

                      • Everytime the car was taken back to the Stuttgart Porsche plant to be rebuilded
                        This continuous up dating explain why 356/2 061 was abble to race 3 full years and still be competitive after 3 years of hard racing
                        Don't forget also that the first Porsche 356 had a central engine as some of the Glockler Porsche

                        • The Le Mans 1951 24 hours race was the first race where Porsche cars were entered by the factory
                          Came with a team of 4 cars only 2 off them : 356/2 054 race number 47 and 356/2 063 race number 46 participated to the race
                          356/2 054 was destroyed during the practice so only one car 356/2 063 driven by the French team Auguste Veuillet/Edmond Mouche started the race
                          They finished 20th overall and first in class 1100 cc
