To day day 2 Beaune-Lyon 400 kilometers with races on the Bresse permanet race track and 2 off special stages on closed roads

After the races on the Bresse circuit all the pilots stopped at the Abbaye de Cluny inn Burgundy for the Lunch



The Cluny abbaye (Benedictin monastry) was built in the 9th century and was until, the French revolution the largest Roman church ever built

After the Revolution the monastry was partially destroyed and the stones sold
To day what could be saved has been rebuilt and used as a museum

At the time I write all cars are parked for the night in the gardens of the Lyon football stadium




Lyon is the 3rd largest France city (after Paris and Marseille)

To night after 2 racetrack races and five specials the race leaders in the VHC Vehicules Historiques de Competition (Historical Competition car) the leaders are

550 RS (classified 6(th tonight and last in the Competiton class but still there)

A 356 in the middle of the yellow colza fields

The only 914/6 in the regularity class

2 off GT 40 for the price of one

Some drive hard (more exactly brake hard) on the Bresse race track

To day's lunch was organised in the Gourdan Castle who is now a famous hotel place

As to day was a quiet day that will allow me to come back on certain of the cars
To start with the 550 RS race number 176
According to an inerview of Jean Philippe Grand a former famous french rallye pilot and Thomas Hayman a journalist this car belong to French car collector
May be Andrew knew whose number it is

There are 2 off 904 in the race
one metalized grey in the regularity and the blue one in the competition with a fifth overall which is not bad at all related to the engine capacity difference
Jean Marc Bussolini 904 is 904-027 with as I said before a 911 6 cylinders engine

Another interesting story
Guy Frequelin former French rallye pilot who won the 1983 Tour Auto with an Opel Ascona 400 and was from 2001 to 2007 the Citroen race dept Director (the one who made Sebastien Loeb known) did enter the 1976 Tour Auto with a Porsche RSR

40 years after Guy Frequelin had the idea to enter this year tour Auto with this same car

This car today at the start of StBonnet le Froid speciale
