I love these.
WHAT is the yellow car? I don't think there were a lot of mid-engine drag (?) cars back then.
Is the "Green Seen" 55 Chevy at Pomona? Looks like the San Gabriel Mountains in the background. Winternationals? I'm just guessing of course.Bill Sampson

It's hard to say for sure which dragstrip by the backgroud mountains, because the air was so dirty back in the 60's, it was a rare day you could even SEE the mountains. We used to cut school early to catch the last few races at Santa Anita because they let us in free after the 9th race, and most afternoons those mountains were invisible! Colton Dragway was right under the San Gabriels, but the pits were all dirt. Pomona had the best paving and facilities because it was also a fair grounds, and NHRA started holding the Winternationals there in 1960 or '61.Craig Richter

The picture had to be taken in the winter or early spring since the snow level is pretty low. It is hard to say which strip isn't it? I grew up in South Pasadena and the mountains, scarcely five miles by air away, were seldom visible in the 50s and 60s, aka the good old days. The air there is much better now making the whole San Gabriel Valley a pretty pleasant place although I don't plan to move back.Bill Sampson

Can't leave that stylish beach house Bill? Can't blame you. Neither Craig nor myself is moving away from the beach any time soon.
PS: Forgot to include Kerry and Trevor. They're not leavin' either, Lord willin' and the creek don't rise ( global warming from our old cars!!!).
