Went for a nice long ride in the PreA today and ran across a 1953 Hudson for sale. On the return trip I stopped to take a look. A young boy walks out and proceeds to give me a "tour" of the car, which he helped "restore". Very proud of the rusty metal his dad let him replace(with screws) and the transplanted Chevy Stovebolt engine. Interior was extensively modified(bucket seats, auto trans shifter on the floor, etc.) This boy was 11 and home alone. He let me take his picture next to the Hudson.

Great story, refreshing to see at least one kid who is not totally consumed in the Virtual world. Goes back once again to good involved parenting and role models. Thanks for sharing this Phil!

LOVE that. Not really a Hiboy or Lowboy. Early grille on a later car. Wires, and pods. Perfect. What's the engine?

This car caught my eye too. Have not run across a shot of the motor yet but will post one as soon as I do.

Skinnies and or wires seem to be taking off on the more recent builds.

I like the look a lot more than I thought I would.

Nice Rat-rods! Going by the looks of the bottom of that 32's door I would bet his passenger ended up with some mud on their pant leg.

OK. For the first (and most likely only) time I actually have a photo, just received, to share.




The car belongs to Jeff Hobgood (The Woodman) and Holly (Hot Rod Holly) and the photo was taken at the Meltdown Drags. The photo below depicts, from l to r, Bones Balogh ("Big John" Mazmanians's driver as you might discern from the A/GS cap), Holly, Jeff and Ed Iskendarian (yes, THAT Iskendarian, now reputedly in his 90s).
