Next on the list... interior. The bench seat really, and some other odds and ends I never got to earlier.

Still needs some cleaning, but then again the front has been run into a curb, so...

At some point I'm going to have the bottom recovered to match the backs (which I stole off the OG buckets) so it all matches.

Sump clearance is no longer an issue either.

We nick-named this engine "The Octopus" because there are oil lines , drains, etc. running everywhere.
I'm going to re-route / remove some of that when the time comes, as well as relocate that filter.

I figured new front bumper brackets were cheap enough so I ordered a set of them today too. Once I have them i'll fit the front bumper to the car and re-paint it.

Then it goes to the back burner again while I get some other cars back on the road and customer s taken care of.

          Nov 2011 -

          A long needed update.

After a lot of thought and weighing the pros/cons of money vs time I dropped this off with VW Paradise mid September for Kris to finish for me.
What seemed like "easy" work, was quickly turning into a lot of engineering and that was above my capability, and knowing the Kris had set-up a similar T1 engine in a PreA along with an attention to detail that I feel is on par with my own it was a good match.

With that being said, it sat for a month or so while he finish some other work, but once he started he's been burning through things at a pretty steady pace and communication has been awesome.

Brakes are done, trans dialed in, clutch working, oil cooler/fan mounted, oil filter mounted, *most* oil lines are run, fuel system in, linkage started.

          Still to do:

Breather, re-route head drains, new exhaust (old one went to blast/coating and was full of holes), finish oil lines, finish linkage, install shroud (being wrapped now), mount/wire MSD, wire tach, tune / dyno.

Kris told me he'd do a couple burn-outs and smack a curb for me (on video) before handing over the keys.

While the car was in SoCal getting the engine sorted I found a red loop carpet kit for it and bought it.

This later turned out to be for a later car and the seller refunded me. But it did get the wheel turning and I talked to a couple shops about doing my interior in all red. One of the shops sent me some swatches.

            Dec 23rd 2011 -

            Color swatches arrived today.
These two matched the carpet best.

Yes, I picked the worst light possible for the picture.

I'm going to check on getting the headliner NOT perforated though.

                January 2012 -

I have two shops willing to do the interior.
One is a Porsche only place, the other is a West Coast VW shop (you figure it out) The VW guys say they can match or possibly beat the Porsche guys, but no solid numbers yet.

                  February 2012 -

I ended up using Auto's International to do the interior. Not only are they a few miles from VW Paradise (where my car currently sits) but they were willing to work with me, Kris, and our schedules to get it in.

Out with the old, in with the new....

Good thing the engine isn't done. Not sure how they'd do that with the breather, etc. mounted....

Nice update before heading out of town.
Correct headliner, and nicely matched door tops.
Dash and rear tops will be the same color red.

They "lowered" the seat for me today. Not sure what that means, but Auggie told me it was pretty close to the wheel and knew I was a "big guy" so they wanted to fit it better.

While it was out They got a few better pics of the inside as well.

Waiting on their glass guy and then it's back to Paradise.
