  • Hi 356, how old is that picture of the 59 CGT? It looks like it was taken at the Malibu Country Mart by the coffee shop. Also known as Jerry Seinfeld's stomping ground.

    • Jerry Seinfeld personally told me at the Louis Vuitton Rockefeller Center Car Show where I had my red 1959 Carrera GS-GT on display that he had two 59 GT's. I photographed his East Hampton based GT which is covered below. That car curiously has period yellow California plates while the California domiciled GT has NY plates. The car in California can also be distinguished from its NY cousin by the fact that it has factory rear reflectors.

            • The car was wearing the race number 159 and reproduction rallye plates she wear at the 1963 Tour Auto when its owner at that time Eddy Meert entered it with Wim de Jonghe as co-pilot with a DNF result

As you may read below the pic, d'Ieteren brothers, the Porsche distributor for Belgium, took advantage of this victory to make their publicity

                    • John Ruston is well known over here for his 356 collecting and he has owned some lovely cars. He also is involved in 356 racing so knows a great deal about anything 356. He often writes in to the UK 356 forum www.ddk-online.com

                      That's a nice car.

                      • Late wedges behind parking lights, Carrera emblem on side on 59's only, yet no vent windows, as on 58's. Note that they are on the car to the left...What year is it???

Probably a big so what, but a lovely car. Chassis number?

                              • Interesting picture, thanks for sharing. The carburetor shrouds on the deck lid are very interesting. The are a lot lass tall than the ones I have seen over the years. Almost looks like they are off a speedster which does not make sense. Pretty cool
