  • Great shot Gerard! That is Linge's Carrera license S AU 88 - Strahle's Carrera was license WN - V2. Do you have more from this Rallye?

I am always impressed with the photos you come up with.

    • Apparently Paul Strahle did love the Tour de Corse as he competed in several editions with Herbert Linge but also with Robert Buchet
So in 1959 he finish 4th overall with the car above

        • Michael
I realise I did a big mistake Strahle Linge 356 in 1960 had the plate S KN 212 not WN V2
Now there is quite a mystery regarding the plate WN V2 and WN V1
Were these plates Porsche factory race plate or Paul Ernst Strahle own plates ?

                    which led to the question
Was it the same car or the WN V2 plate was it move from one car to another one ?

                          • I find it intriguing that the Museum car has the chrome rear side window moulding, which did not appear on the GS-GT lightweight coupes in '57, if i'm not mistaken.

Beginning with the very first March/April 1957 lightweights, it was only the Werkes Carrera GT coupe that had Plexi quarter windows with no frames. The customer "Production" model GT coupe had Plexi inside the standard chrome frame. Both also had Plexi rear window and side door Plexi (leather strap pull-up on the Werkes and roll-up on the Production model).

The Blue Strahle-Museum WN-V 2 Carrera was a "spare" lightweight chassis that he built up from other parts at the time. Interesting to note that he earlier had a Silver WN-V 2 Carrera as well.

By the way, the lightweight 1957 Werkes GT features ended up being used in the 1958 GT Production models...including the addition of Alu Doors and Lids front and rear.
