Great photos Gerard! Using my original definition applied to production cars I would say fake but hanging around Andrew and Steve these past years has caused me to rethink that position as it pertains to race cars. All their stories and background info clearly shows these cars were reconfigured, crashed, and rebuilt as needed. A lot of reincarnated chassis #'s even back then.

Indeed Rolf Wutherich after the accident never recover the totality of its integrity
He started to drink was sacked by Von Neumann, started his own business in the US with no success, and finally came back to Germany were Porsche offered him a job in its Stuttgart plant
He continued to drink and was finally again sack by Porsche in 1968
He died in 1981 in a car crash (probably drunck)
On one of the pics I am going to post you will see Eugen Bohringer drinking Cognac directly from the bottle
The story don't say if Rolf ended the bottle

Anyway drunck or not Eugen and Rolf did a very good job, as they ended the rallye at the 2nd overall place, the best result ever of a Porsche before Vic Elford victory in 1970 with a 911
The following pics will reveal that 1965 was a very tough year with a
