It is definitely a 550RS chassis - which number - unknown...? It could have been rebodied back into a 550 at some point. Does anyone know who the driver was?
I am onto the provenance of 550-0020 at the moment - I found Art Bunker III. Interesting guy who makes leather sporrans
Here is his father's dealership

I must admit that once again Steve was right : this pic was taken Saturday July 7th 1957 ie the day before the Rouen formula 1 Grand prix that Jean Behra raced in a Maserati
The car is Christian Goethals 550 A 0122
The other 550 belong to another Belgium pilot Georges Harris
Jean Behra won this race on a 718RSK in 1958 who also wear the race number 2 which induct me in error

Thanks for sharing this Andrew and great bit of detective work! The restored car in your photo looks like another funky re-body. Aside from the weird stance it really gives off a Beck replica vibe. I guess considering how much it was cut up by old "bat" there wasn't a whole lot of the original car left. Thanks again! JustinJustin Rio

Thanks for contacting John, Michael. They used to do crazy things back in the day of grass roots racing - you wouldn't be able to get away with that these days! Is it possible to find out if he remembers who he bought it off originally or sold it to?
