                  • Does anyone know what happened to 550-002?

                      Ashley,

Andrew (type550) has been kind enough to run through each Spyder by chassis number throughout this thread. Here is #2 and I believe this car is considered lost.

                      • Yes - I am preoccupied with other threads!

Today is 550-0039 - currently own by a very enthusiastic Swiss collector who loves to Skype for hours and talk cars! One day I got a random email from him to say he owned the Sypder and as usual, I was very sceptical until I saw proof, so he wanted to Skype (which is not what I do often). Boy was I in for a ride - I asked him if the Porsche plate and the Wendler plate matched his car? He ended up taking his iPad down into his garage and the collection of German and Italian cars there was to die for - many one off protos and limited race edition cars - all classics lined up. In the corner was 550-0039 which he has owned for over 30 years. He didn't have any history on the car, so I said I would help him build one. One distinct feature on his car are the chrome rings around the air intakes on the nose which have always been there. It wasn't until I saw a photo of a red 550 racing at the Ring with the same chrome when I realised it was the same car.

The car was previously one of the Portuguese racers - you can find the rest of the story here -http://type550.com/9389/a-week-of-discovery/

When I gave him the history of his car, he was wrapped and he has been a great Spyder friend since.

                        • Andrew, what did the 0039 guy say about the Wendler plate?

                            • Yes, 037 makes sense. Not sure about "of course" as (at least to me) it is not clear when this disparity ended. Maybe around the 043 frame.
