    • 1957 will be remembered as a catastrophic year for Porsche
Indeed only one car : car race number 35 driven by Carel Godin de Beaufort and Ed Hugus did finish the race at a mere 8th overall
      Jaguar did 1-2-3-5-7
      Ferrari 4 and 6
Claude Storez/Crawford due to an error of the Porsche mecanics went short of petrol a few minutes before the end of the race
Claude who was at the wheel decided to push the car up to the finish line to cross the line at the end of the 24 hours
      What he did
Their car had covered 275 laps which would have gave them the 11th overall
After discussion the race controlers disqualified them

                  • Being a non-world championship race, the 1957 Reims 12 hours did not attract constructors race team
Porsche KG entered 3 off 1500 GS Carrera for the following teams
Car race number 48 : Edgar Barth/Richard von Frankenberg

These 5 off Ferrari were followed by the 356 Carrera race number 48 and 50
For a marketing reasons Huschke Von Hanstein decided that the 2 356 will cross the line together

You certainly all know that the 356GT race number 48 belong to day to one of our forum member Michael (CarreraGT)
In Europe, nearly all the pics available on the net were posted by Michael on the French forums Caradisiac and Autodiva
So Michael if you read these lines you are please let share with us a little bit of the treasures you have accumulated on this race

                    • Michael is convinced that his car should have finish 6th ahaead of Claude Storez car which was slowed down by a puncture
But of couse we French are convinced that Claude car should have been classified before the Edgar Barth s'one as prooved by this pic extract from the Auto Journal a car dedicated magazine who still exist to day

                      • I cannot resist to translate what the French journalist wrote on the left of the pic representing Jo Bonnier (left) and Claude Storez alongside with their 356 Carrera race number 50 :
"In the 1500 cc class there was virtually no race : the Porsches did not had any competitors, Claude Storez and Von Frankenberg, after intervention of Huschke Von Hanstein Porsche race director, were classified "ex-aequo" although our French exceptionnal champion did cross the line a few centimeters before Von Hanstein"
                        and again under the pic
"Bonnier (white helmet under the arm) and Claude Storez GT French Champion (true Claude Storez was GT French champion in 1956 and 1957) classified their Porsche 1500 just behind the 3 liters Ferrari
This extremly good performance behind the Italian cars allow them to recieve to receive their ecanic blessing
