Sorry forget was I said above the first Glockler Porsche never went to the US
The first car bought by Max Hoffmann was the Glockler Porsche number 2
The third car built by Walter Glockler and Hermann Ramelow who is known as the second Glockler Porsche was built in 1951 also with a tubular chassis and a Weidenhausen body
Again the engine is located in front of the backwheels
On the contrary of the Glockler Porsche number 1 this car was not a pure race car but had VW beetle beams fitted to allow a night utilisation
To race this car Walter Glockler had the idea to give the wheel to one of his cousin named Helm Glockler who had already a quite nice palmares

During this 1951 year, the relation between Glockler and Porsche will increase to such an extend that for what his known as the September 1951 Monthlery world records, Porsche decided to race the Glockler Porsche number 2 and present it to the Word media as a Porsche
Indeed in Septmber 1951 taking benefit of their presence to the Paris carshow, Porsche rented the Monthlery racetrack near Paris
The 2 356 SL Gmund who took part to the Le Mans race in June and the Glockler Porsche number 2 beat 11 World records
The Glockler Porsche took the 1000 km world records for 1500 cc car with an average speed of 185 Km/h

to day the Glockler Porsche number 3 who is in fact the number 4 off the 7 Glockler built
Max Hoffman was quite satisfied of the performances of the Glockler Porsche number 2, performances due to the new 1500 cc Porsche engine and the very light weight of the car (around 500 kg)
Max was less enthousiast about the ability of the brakes to reduce the speed (all the early 356 had this defect)
Max was also not satisfied by the road handling
Early 1952 Walter Glockler and Hermann Ramelow decided to built another Glockler Porsche with the 1500 cc engine
If the general shape of the Glockler 2 and the aluminium body were kept, the chassis was no longer a tubular one but a Porsche 356 PRE A chassis freduced in length
Therefore on this car the engine is no longer before the tansaxcle but overhanging behind the axle as on a conventionnal 356
Due to the steel chassis this car weighted a bit more than the number 2 (6

The Glokler Porsche was raced in Germany and Austria in 1952 and was bought by Max Hoffmann and the end of 1952
This car is still in a private collection in the US and regularly exhibited

The Glockler Porsche number 3 was sold to Max Hoffmann with 2 sets of wheels :
The lightened steel ones who are to day on the car and the beautiful magnesium wheels that Max used in the early days in the US but too fragile and too rare to be risked to day

he US before or after a race
The Glockler 3 has an oil cooler in the front which make it very easy to distinguish it from the Glockler Porsche number 2

These 2 cars are similar to the Glockler Porsche number 3 (tubular chassis, aluminium body, engine in the center of the car) except that the
rear ale was placed in a reverse position ie the torsion bars at the extreme part of the chassis as seen on the three following pics of :
                                Glockler Porsche number 4
                                Glockler Porsche number 5
