I remember the article on this car in Excellence a few years back what really stuck in my head was the owner lay dead in this car after the wreck in the Hollywood hills for quite some time until it was discovered. Now another story : Gebruder Beutler Karrosserie

The 2 Swiss brothers Ernst and Fritz Beutler started their operation in 1943 in a city called Thun near Bern in the German part of Switzerland

Beutler brother major activity was to transform the VW bug into a semi-utilitary vehicle

The German part of Switzerland joint Austria
Therefore Thun and Bern are close to Gmund
When in 1948 Ferdinand and Ferry Porsche decided to built a sport car based on the VW Kaffer they had no industrial tool in Gmund to do so
They look around to find coachbuilders who had the ability to work aluminium bodies and sign an agreement with the Beutler brother to built the cabriolet version of the 356
