          • To recreate the Claude Storez Zagato Porsche, Zagato had to start from nothing as the original dwgs had been destroyed
New dwgs were established starting from pics of the original car
Most of the study cost was paid by Herb Wetanson but Zagato ask for the right to build as much as 10 copies
Some weeks ago I had the opportunity to visit in the Basel (Switzerland) Pantheon Museum a special exhibition dedicated to Zagato 2 years before the celebration of its 100 anniversary of its opening (1919)

              • Amongst the 25 off cars in exhibition was another copy of the Claude Sorez Zagato Porsche
Herb Wetanson had the elegance to have his copy painted in metalized grey and not in white with red stripes as Claude Storez one
The second or third copy (as I know one is now in a Japanese collection) is painted exactly as the original

He is also reknwon for its collaboration with Aston Martin
To day Zagato is specialized in the recreation of small series of famous historical cars as his interpretation of the last Aston Martin

                      • Another very interesting car displayed at this exhibition was a very special Porsche Carrera GT modified by Zagato at the request of the German pilot Ernst Berg who was willing to have a unique car amongst the only 1270 built

                        • WOW! Never seen that roof conversion for the GT before. I think Zagato really "finished" this car. Beautiful! Thanks Gerard.

                            • Hi Vance
You are right for the Denzel
Other cars on the pic Alfa Giuletta (102) Mercedes "ponton" several VW bug, and a French Simca Aronde
No idea where this pic was taken
                              France or Italy ?
Thought it could be the 1958 "coupe des Alpes" which combine the 2 countries, with a start from Nice and a tour in the Italain Alps, but the race numbers does not cope
Have you any more infos ?
