I heard of this car several years ago, but never write on it as this car built in 1948 by Hans

sorry wrong post
I restart
This car was built with an aluminium body, on a straight forward VW beetle chassis by Hans Waibel a Swiss coachworker at the request of Rupprecht Von Singer a rich Swiss Industrial who was the first Porsche importator for Switzerland
Rupprecht von Singer is the guy who exhibited 3 off 356 Gmund built by another Swiss coachbuilder named Beutler at the 1948 Geneva car show
The restaured Waibel cab was displayed at the 2002 Peeble beach concours and then offer for sale at auction
The owner in order to make the price rise pretend that this car was in fact one of the 5 prototypes of the 356 which is completely untrue
The car sold for 32.000 USD less than the restauration costs
Problems continue
Hans Waibel was a good coachworker but also a good "drinker" which did not help him being able to deliver in time
Seing nothing arriving Ferdinand order the prototypes to Beutler and subsequently stop his collaboration with Waibel
Therefore the W
Therefore the Waibel cab as known to day has nothing to see with Porsche, except that the US owner who tried to sell it put a second hand Porsche 356 engine in it
In fact the story Porsche/Waibel did not finish as in the 60's the Swiss Police ask Waibel to tune for them some Porsche cabs
Some years later Waibel became one of the larger Swiss dealer for VW
To day the story of another one off car, but this time a real X......Porsche
The Hirondelle Porsche
This story will allow us to discover several actors of the Dutch car racing scenes
First Henk van Zalinge (born 1922/death 2006) the guy who design and built the Hirondelle Porsche and thereafter built several other sport or race Hirondelles powered by a DKW 3 cylinders two stroke engine
Secondely Henk van Zalinge friends
Ben Pon (born 1936 still alive)
Carel Godin de Beaufort (born in 1934, killed himself in 1964 on the Nurburgring race track at the age of 30 at the wheel of a Porsche 718 formula 2 race car
Rob Slotemaker (born 1929 and who also killed himself in 1979 on the Zandvoort race track)
and the place where they all meet and race the Zandvoort race track built in the sand dunes of the shore of the Dutch North sea
