My Inspiration for my choice of finish and trim. Steve McQueen's car in first picture. Mine on the bottom. Just couldn't swing the Rudge wheels. Erik

Thanks Erik! Well the guy who became the engineer would most likely be the best bet for future 356 ownership or interest... You have one nice speedster and Those alloys look really sweet! Did you retro fit headrests on your speedster seats or are you running some other aftermarket type seat? Justin

I have the original Speedster seats. The headrests have upholstered brackets and slip on the seat backs. They are aftermarket items popular in the 50's - 70's. They are similar to the "Austi" brand I have seen in old magazine ads. I'll post some pics later. Erik

Justin, Here are pics of the headrests. They came on a 912 that was bought and sold. I took them apart and re-shaped the rear bracket to fit the Speedster seat. Erik

My first car bought with my own money. That's me in the middle age 16 and my brother on the left. Paid $900. It wasn't a bad car but the engine was on the wrong end. I fixed it up and sold it a year later for $2000 and "graduated" into a 57 A Coupe. More later, Erik

This was my first Porsche. It was green and a little warty but it was a Porsche. I had access to a shop full of goodies and before long it had a big-bore kit, Borla? exhaust, American Racing wheels and nerf bars. I was 17 years old and had created my first outlaw. It had enough junk on it to make any purist puke.

Great story Erik. Sounds like your father was a cool guy. Mine is fortunately still around, but he lost interest in cool cars after he got out of college. I am making up for it tho. He thinks I'm crazy. Probably right.
