At the time I post the Tour Auto competitors are on their way to Nantes
Yesterday after a very early start from Paris to avoid the daylight traffic competitors joined the Breteuil Castle near Dreux west of Paris for the official start at 9 AM
On their way to Saint Malo on the North Brittany coast they raced a special stage where the competition group cars were clocked one by one the winner being the one achieving the best time on around 11 kilometers of a small country road closed to traffic
After they join le Mans for group races on the permanent track (a small share of 3.6 kilometers out of the 13 kilometers of the le Mans 24 hours track who is only open for the 24 hours race)
some videos will explain better than me

to attend a meeting of a sailing organisation as a member of the board
By chance the road to this lake cope with the roads used by the Tour Auto for its third (Nantes/Limoges) and fourth (Limoges/Toulouse) legs
Thursday April 27th I was able to assist to the Tour Auto races on the "Val de Vienne" race track near Poitiers

Some pics I took with my iphone
The great Finnish rallye pilot (several time winner of the Paris Dakar rallye for Peugeot and world rallye champion in 1981) has been invited to attend the 2017 Tour Auto as one of the 2 off opening cars
Jean Francois Penillard 1954 356 PRE A
Cockpit of the 356 PRE A
Jean Marc Bussolini 1963 904 GTS
as it is written this car is one of the 100 original cars built in 1963
A great admiration for these car collectors who dare to race with cars worth several millions euros

JF Penillard 1954 PRE A prepared by Andy Prill in England is particullary performant being very often quicker than many of the 911 a seen on this pic who show it ahead of much more powerful cars
By the way I reallise that I forgot to say that the Finnish pilot (secon=d from right on the pic) is Ari Vatanen
The Belgian 1957 550 RS seen here waiting to enter the Val de Vienne race track for a regularity session
On the contrary of the 904 and of the 356 PRE A, this 550 was not in the competition category but in the regularity category which suppose much less hard driving
Indeed it was not the ca

sorry wrong post
I continue the Belgian 550 lost its right back wheel due to a brake drum breakage during the Le Mans session the first day of the race Tuesday April 25th
By luck the car slip outside the track without nearly any body damage
A new aluminium brake drum was sent from Italy to Le Mans race track during Tuesday night allowing the car to continue the race Wednesday morning with only a large time penalty consecutive to his abandon in the Le Mans session
The Austrian 1957 Carrera 1500 GT never restored who in fact came to the start of the rallye in Paris by the road was still there although not very well classified

I went to the Val de Vienne race track with a friend who owe a 911 and we left the race track after that the 2 Competition groups had finish their race in order to go back to Limoges following the rallye roads up to Limoges where the Tour Auto was spending the night in the Exhibition park
Although this "liaison" step have to be covered on open roads with a strict respect of the speed limits, unforgotable experience to be pass by several speeding up competition cars
Next day Friday April 28th same experience with my own car on the road to Rodez
I follow the rallye roads in the middle of the rallye cars up to Figeac where they stop for lunch and then drove toward Albi for another race session on the Albi airport race track
