    • Always enjoy your posts Gerard. I found the history of the Michelin 904 absolutely fascinating.

      • Yes I agree, most interesting information. And some super photos. That 1950/51 fish silver split screen looks very nice too.

Forty odd years ago I honestly thought split screen 356 cars were as rare as hens teeth, just amazing now how many seem to turn up.

        thanks

He was seriously wounded and never succeed to recover his level
But he had a good insurance company and became very rich with nothing to do
His team manager named Raphael Geminiani (who was also a famous Cycling Champion) before to become team Manager of his own cycling team, was fond of car racing hence the idea given to Roger Riviere : buy you a racing car and try to become a Champion in a new sport
Unfortunately Roger Riviere had no qualities to drive a sport car and very quickly realised he will never be a champion
904-034 was then sold to a Clermont Ferrand mechanic who also was very quickly afraid by the 904 performances
Michelin tyres bought 904-034 as test car for their Ladoux test laboratory
Thank you for the story. I would of thought that driving a car fast was easy compared to descending the mountains at speed on a bike. However, maybe he wasn't happy to have another serious crash. Anything over 80kph starts to freak me out on the bike but some of the pro cyclists were clocked at 135+ kph during the Tour of Switzerland!
