  • Carrera book comments and questions

    Guys,

I'd like to start this thread to enable conversation regarding the book, an exchange of questions and ideas and corrections.

There are bound to be controversial issues that will be fun to talk about!

      First correction---

page 632, the Nurburg race: chassis should be 718-055 not 056.

Also, for the chassis list---718-055 should note silver with red seats.

I learned from the book that one of my "sisters", 104007 was an aluminum bodied carrera. Meissen blue/tan just like my 104006. Rats! Missed it by that much! I've visited with the guy who has 104005. Wonder where 104007 is today? I know, I know, they are just numbers. But it all adds a bit of fun to the hobby.

Love the book. A beautiful, and exhaustive, piece of work.

          DG,

          Thanks much!

Another fun thing in book is to check the Reutter build dates and production dates; they are the actual dates not the kardex dates which refer to warranty.

Also, note how much more rational the colors look on the list by Reutter date, not by chassis number.

            Today's note---

Maybe 2-3 years ago, a fellow asked on the R Forum about specific 547/1 motors that were "GTs".

They are all specifically note in the book.

Well, I read it pretty much cover to cover with information overload
I have drafted a review to load onto my website, but my site was compromised over the weekend so I had to shut it down. It is currently being made more secure and should have it up shortly - like the book, you will just have to wait

                  Joel,

It is a very special word...known only to a very few. Like the "int. Nr" for the motors (by the way--the pushrod motors had them, too)...I could tell you but...well...

                  Best,

                  Steve Heinrichs

ps--gee, you are only on page 19?
