Comments on photo #38082, page 20, showing engine compartment of silver car with blue stipes.
This is probably Abarth Carrera 1003. I saw this car at an early Porsche Club of America Parade, probably the one in Sun Valley, Idaho in 1971. John Bond Jr. owned the car at the time, it was painted silver with blue stripes as shown in the photo, and had a similarly detailed engine. John had towed the car to the Parade all the way from California with his Volvo P1800 station wagon. This was the small two-door station wagon based on Volvo's P1800 coupe sports car. It was loaded with his wife, baby, baby supplies, concours supplies, and spare parts for the car! John was still listed as the owner in the 1983 issue of the Stephen Dean/Greg Young Four-Cam Registry, but the car might have gone to a new owner by that time. (John was the son of John Bond Sr., founder of Road and Track magazine.)

The recent photos of a bright new replica of an abarth carrera GTL posted by Tham in the hot rod, modified, custom, outlaw topic being completed in Thailand
(Indeed these photos should have been posted in the topic : "how about some interesting replica" as this car although it is beautiful is nothing else than a replica
have pushed me to publish quicker than I had the intention the following :
One year and 8 months ago I post in this same Abarth topic a pic I took on the Fiskens (a famous English historical car broker) stand at the 2016 Paris Retromobile carshow

This Abarth was painted in French blue with a french flag banner and race number 37 ie a replica of the abarth Carrera 1002 driven by Robert Buchet and Guy Ligier during the 1961 Le Mans 24 hours race
I had the opportunity to access the Fiskens stand and to discuss with one of the guy present on this stand who told me that this car was coming from the US and had recently been bought by a reknown French cook (there are many in France) who wanted to stay anonymous
I was also said that this car was not for sale but any serious offer will be considered
Following that first photo started on this site a discussion in which Steve (who was still alive then) and another french guy under the pseudo "Mustang 66" interfer

You may find the original discussion on pages 16 17 and 18 of this same topic
As you may see at the end of the discussion Steve, Mustang 66 and my self came to the conclusion was neither 1002 or 1012 but a real fake
Mustang 66 is one of the very active guys with Lutz Montowski of the abarth carrera topic on the French autodiva forum
I am sure you will all love this very well documented forum but unfortunately it is in French
Anyway you may have a look to this forum by clicking the following link

I f you have open the link you have read the arguments of Lutz Montowski and Mustang 66 prooving that the Fiskens car was nothing than a fake
back plate light different
stop lights different
back lid louvers not at the same height
Fiskens car lid with rivets never seen on any other Abarth carrera
I have also find an article publish in 2016 by liebe zu ihm "love for porsche"
in which they also emit some doubts about this car
