  • I have crossed to the dark side and started researching the 718s and considering they were the lesser build, everyone tells me it should be easy to research them!

    I am helping the owner of 718-055 - the ex Carel de Beaufort RSK. I have a lot of its provenance sorted, but there is one part of its history I am missing, so I am reaching out to the ABCGT knowledge bank!

    I have only recently seen some pictures and info of the car from 1961 where it competed in France (GP of Paris) with Pierre Monneret finishing third. Any history of the car during this period would be greatly appreciated.

      • Pierre Monneret also drove for Deutch Bonnet Panhard and Renault Alpine
        He had a serious accident with a DB Panhard during the 1963 Le Mans 24 hours

                • I believe 718-055 would be an RS60. The RSK, RS-60 and 61's were numbered in series. The FIA windshield never was fitted to an RSK..

                  • You have certainly come through with the goods! Great information that helps heaps - was there certain licence plates that Sonauto used on their cars? This is the only mystery, who owned the car while he was racing it. And yes Rickie, it is a RS60

                    • Hi Andrew

                      In France garages have special numbers including the W letter in it

                      Large garage as Sonauto was in the 60's had several different numbers
                      These numbers allow them to take on open roads either a new car never registred either customer cars during their repair or maintenance
                      It is not the case for Pierre Monneret RS 60 who had a regular registration for Paris area
                      75 = S

                      • 75 = Seine department whose caital is Paris
                        W numbers were allowed on a race car not yet sold to somebody
                        It is not rare to see 550 718 RS and 904 raco=ing with these numbers
                        As a counter-example Robert Buchet who had a large Porsche garage in Poitiers was always registring his cars before racing them
