Yes .. Steve Heinrichs is truly missed. What a unique and passionate Porsche collector, historian, and author he was. He was willing to help so many people. Looking back, I am very pleased to have been associated with him in the Carrera Book. And he was a very great friend to me as well.

I'm never noticed before the coil is further away from the engine than a 356 so cooler? Howwever, this looks like an early 4 cam there is dizzy ther on the heads so prone to problems?

Hi Jacques,
it was made from cast iron.
I'm sure for early spyders, not sure for late ones.
If you have such a cast iron cylinder and want to sell,
please let me know.

Just found a couple of rare photos of 550-0045 at the 1956 Nurburgring GP which crashed into the bushes...
