Indeed the 1956 Sverige GP

raced by August 12th consisted in two races
An opening race of 104 kilometers long, dedicated to the tourist cars mostly Mercedes 300 SL Gullwings, Alfa Romeo and Porsche 356 Carrera

and a 1000 kilometers sport cars GP 5th round of the 1956 FIA World sport cars championship
27 cars entered this race mostly Ferrari's, Maserati and Jaguar D type as seen on this pre grid pic

As 550 have no indicator lights, pilots hang their arm off the cockpit to indicate to other cars they are leaving the main road

Not much to say on the Hockenheim sportcars GP as much of the film is during the race (tto fast to read car numbers) but a quite interesting report on the 1955 Le Mans race
First because
6 off 550 entred this race and 5 of these 6 finish the race
For those who don't know well their history 1955 is the year where a Mercedes Golden Arrow driven by Pierre Levegh left the track and killed 84 spectators and severly injured over 120 other spectators
