Thanks Justin - it is getting a lot of media exposure, so hopefully it will flush out a buyer. Found this cool photo of 550A-0121 at the Roskilde Ring - love the track! This is a parade lap - you can also see 550-0045, the Swedish car on the right
Interesting photo of a 550A which is supposedly at the Nurburgring in 1956 (but would be too early) - maybe von Trips as pilot. Can't find any record of the car or race. Usually the T in the number is for 'training' or practice car. The licence plate could be a Porsche Werks number. The same number is on 550A-0120 at the Ring in 1958, but it doesn't look like the same car - any help appreciated!
Hi Andrew,
looks to me like it is exactly the same car in both photos.
It has the same damaged or bad repaired front.
Please look for example at the shape of the right front fender!
Whilst searching through instagram I came across this photo of a Spyder inside a house. By the looks of it, it is 550-13. I have never seen this car in a current collection - if I could only find out where and who??!!
Hi Andrew,
how come that you believe this is 550-013?
Is it only because of two additional lights?
If it's the same car, it must have underwent some bigger operations.
For example:
The front hood in the first photo is way smaller than in the next photo
-about 10cm in width and length.
The additional lights are sitting not on but in the body.
Different filler neck and mirror housing e.c.
Do you have other photos of a repaired or modified 013?
It might be the same car but those are things that I see on the first view, probably cause it's my job to do sheet metal work every day...
At this point I have put it down to a process of elimination. That style spyder was one of the LeMans Werks cars, so either 550-10, 550-11, 550-12 or 550-13 (550-14 was a special design Spyder)
Here is 550-10
550-11 was burnt to the ground - the only thing that survived is the door which I have
550-12 is in the Porsche collection
So that only leaves 550-13, but as I have never seen the number restored, this might not be an original!
Not excluded that it is an original car but if, something strange must have happened.
Please look at the firewall, it looks very dented.
(Interesting bulb behind the wall - for a bigger engine?)
Any bigger accident recorded with 013 being involved?
