  • Hello Everyone,

Steve Heinrichs has asked me to comment on this photo. This is Julius Voigt-Nielsen at 1957 Roskildering with 550A-0121. Note the Danish flag (red/white cross)on the hood. In April 1957, he raced without start nr. Voigt-Nielsen in helmet and goggles at rear of car.

    Regards, Vietta

                • Hi Steve this is a question for you and andrew as you both seem extremely knowledgable in these subjects, after reading every post on this forum subject and extensive research, I haven't been able to find any evidence that 550-02 actually raced in North America sure there was entries but they were no shows. Also the comments that the car was in a private collection in America is there any proof of this or is it just rumours as I'm sure people with your knowledge on these subjects would surely have some proof. It seems that one post by one says the last known owner said it was destroyed yet both of you have said it is in a private collection. I don't want to know who the person would be re: privacy yet a confirmation of some kind would be greatly appreciated.
I would like to personally thank everybody on this forum for the amazing knowledge and insight truly is mind boggling

                  • I agree, the resource that we have in Andrew and Steve is unmatched concerning what I believe to be Porsche's most beautiful racing car design.

I thought this was 002 but I seem to remember a post by Steve that it was 550-004. I hope I kept it straight.
Thank you Andrew, I could of swore it was Riverside..

                    • re 550-02:

Stand by. We are reviewing U.S. races and some conventional thinking may have been wrong. I do not know if now destroyed or in a collection. Andrew may. Last I knew, it was in the U.S. Northeast in the '70s.
We need more time to make certain about the races.

                        • A number of years ago I heard from a reliable source that the car is unrestored and in North America. I have not seen any evidence of the car to confirm.

Here is the remaining door of 550-11 which I came across last year when I visited the US. The rest of the car was destroyed by fire.

                          • Hello guys, yes the 550-002 is still out there.
                            It's hidden away since 1980's.
I don't know exact location but I know who has it.
The guy doesn't want to let it go...
He is old and says the car is unrestored.
Have been trying to get more info but ...

                            • Looks like I hadn't kept it straight. You guys are amazing! I find Andrew's photos of that artifact so interesting as I can see some of the same damage in that old photo of the cars demise. Just fantastic..
