This car has also been entered by the ENB at the 1957 Le Mans 24 hours with as drivers Dubois/Harris

When he arrived at the Blegines APAL plant the 550 needed a good refreshing
The aluminium body with many dents was taken off the chassis and throw away in the factory waste bean with other metallic scaps
The Fuhrmann engine was sent to a specialist for rebuilding and the chassis completely refresh
A polyester body was then adapted to the ex-550 chassis
I believe this body had to be specially made for this car as, as you know, the 550 entraxle is smaller by 26 centimeters than the VW chassis for which the APAL body was designed
Anyway as you may see on the below pic, this car was different from the other
In particular he had louvers on the back window like the Lamborghini Miura

Edmond Pery gave this car to drive to Pierre Bonvoisin a young and talented Belgian pilot
Quickly the louvers were found dangerous and taken off
Pierre Bonvoisin drove the cars in several occasion in great races as the 1963 Liege Rome Liege and the 1964 Liege Sofia Liege
His best result was a 5th overall and a first in class in the 1964 Huy 12 Hours
race

Sorry I have been busy in Paris these last few days moving off my Paris flat for another one up the same road
I finish the APAL Porsche GT chapter before to continue on the Edmond Pery story
As most of the hand built cars there is big differences between APAL GT
As you may see on this pic where 3 car are assembled, 2 have a flat back and one a round one
idem with the front boot door
I am not very sure why this difference
