Three weeks after Le Mans (July 15th) Robert Buchet was attending with his personnal 1002 the 6 Heures d'Auvergnhe on the Charade race track near Clermont Ferrand
Edgar Barth was there too with presumably 1013
Barth was 14th overall, Buchet 17th
Unfortunately no pics
and for the fun another Abarth, not a Porsche but a Simca
I will complete the Buchet story by his 1963 races with his new Abarth 1006
replacing 1002 at the plant to be repared, in around 10 days when I will be back from my last sailing campaign for this year
You all remember that Robert Buchet seriously damaged 1002 in September 1962 during the Tour Auto
After the accident the car was sent back to the Porsche factory for a total reconstruction, reconstruction who has been sometimes wrongly interpreted leading some to say that 1002 was repaired with the 1021 chassis, which is totally wrong as 1021 never existed
Pierre Marx was the first owner of 1006
He only raced it a few times including the Tour Auto 1960
In September 1962 after the crash of 1002, Robert Buchet was looking for a new Abarth and had the opportunity to buy 1006 to Pierre Marx
1006 was sent to Stuttgart to be up grated to the last race specifications including the fitting of a bright new 2.0 L Fuhrman engine type 587/2
According to Porsche specialists only 5 off the 20 Abarth Carrera had such an upgrate
The 2.0 L Fuhrmann in the Abarth was delivering 140 HP against 110 for the 1.6 L
Sorry wrong post I restart
The 5 off Abarth Carrera up grated with a 2.0 L Fuhrmann engine were :
1006 Buchet
The 2 official Porsche factory cars 1013 and 1018
1012 sold by Schiller to the Filipinetti team
1019 sold to Brockhaus
Back to Robert Buchet and 1006
Indeed it was not a great success, as Robert at the wheel of this car experienced is worst season
Its first race was in March 1963 for the newly created by ACO (Automobile Club de l'Ouest) the Le Mans 24 hours organizers Rallye de l'Ouest
This rallye include races on the Le Mans and Rouen race tracks and several hill climbs in the west of France countryside around Rouen and Le Mans
The new engine did not resist and it was a DNF
The 1963 rallye de l'Ouest was won by Fernand Tavano with his bright new Ferrari GTO
Some weeks later (June) he crash this car during the Le Mans 24 hours
