    • I couple of Classic Le Mans ago I got to chat to Richard Clark the owner of this car. Found for him by Andy Prill and originally raced in Panaermicana in 54? I believe Richard lives in Monte Carlo

Manfredo did race the 1954 edition of the Carrera Panamericana but this time with an Osca race number 62

Here some pics of this car taken in 2013 at the Goodwood Festival of Speed
The car wear a british plate may be when it was in Andy Prill hands

Manfredo Lippman who died recently was very rich and built an impressive car collection

550-01 did also race in 1953 with Jaroslav Juhan as pilot and race number 154

            Salvador Lopez finish 28th
This is the GP Mexico Guadalupe race the following month - notice the different way the number is painted

            • Thank you. Google does tell me that Manfredo had some very interesting cars.

Apparently this one was abandoned in a car park!

"After barely a year McArvey-Munn sold it to a diplomat at the
French consulate in New York City who then apparently
abandoned it in a New York parking garage."

                Thanks for your wise explanations

Just for our pleasure may you answer some questions :

                First

                1) I am right to say that 550-04 is to day in the Porsche Stuttgart museum ?

2)Hans Hermann drove 550-04 in both 1953 and 1954 Carrera Panamericana

3)In between the 2 races, where was the body modification done ?
In the Hohenlohe VW/Porsche agency in Mexico or did the car was sent back to Stuttgart ?

                • In the 1954 Carrera Panamericana,Hermann Linge/Roberto Segura blue 550 (car race number 58 was 550-013 and not 550-06 as I wrote by error which make sense as Jaroslav Juhan 550 (race number 56) was 550-012

                  • A last question for Andrew

On this pic taken at the 1954 Carrera Panamericana we may see from left to right
                    Herbert Linge
                    Hans Hermann
                    Huschke von Hanstein
                    Jaroslav Juhan

                    • If it fair to say on these photos 2 smaller pipes = push rod engine and One larger middle pipe = 4 cam?

                        • Is that an American Roadster or early cab?

                          • #56 appears to be a 52 Cabriolet
though the front signal lights have been updated

                            • Has somebody an idea where and when this pic was taken ?
German airport or in the US ?
The black Mercedes 190 SL in the far date this pic to be end 1955 or early 1956 at the soonest
Indeed the Mercedes 190 SL was produced from mid 1955 to end 1963
