  • So it looks like that the 356 SL GT on Vance pic is 356-058 though one detail hurt me
In 1952 this car had a split 2 parts windscreen aand a one piece split windscreen in 1953 but may be the windscreen was broken and changed by a mre recent one
also found that pic taken during the 1953 Liege Rome Liege race

    • So we still have to identify where the picture was taken. If I check my database, I find a few (34)'s, but the only one that fits is 7 September 1952, Johnny Lurani for the Coppa Inter-Europa in Monza. License plate fits, and I had him as possibly in 356/2-058. Now, my database is not yet complete (will it ever be), but maybe someone can support or deny this.

Edit: I just checked "The Last Eleven", And there is a picture of almost certainly this same car, at the same location, but now seen from the front. So Monza must be a certainty.

This car is described there as a raised roof car, due to Italian regulations at that time. Raised roof is pretty obvious in the photo from the front. Does that help to identify it positively as 356/2-058 ?

        • I did not found any pic of the Porsche official sport cars and therefore cannot tell if some of them were 356/2 GT
Only this one of the cars being prepared before the race

          • So no evidence that 356/2 058 was one of these cars, but the Porsche marketing department was very happy with 4 cars pout of 6 finishing hence the below poster

                • Not South America. Mexico, Carrera Panamericana 1953. Porsche 356 SL-356/2-062 (?), Guillermo Suhr & Oscar Alfonso, from Guatemala.

                              • For me these 2 356 are the ones who raced in the 1952 Carrera Panamericana race
