Vintage 356 Historic Race & Rally event shots

    Taken on the Le Mans circuit in 1954 or 1955
    The start is similar to the 24 Hours race but its not this race
    May one stage of a a rallye like the Routes du Nord (North Road rallye)
    At the bottom a spyder 550
    The blue car is a French racing car DB (flat 2 air cooled Panhard motor 850 cc)
    DB for Deutsch (the designer) and Bonnet (the constructor)

        Christian Poirot at the "Cpoupe des Alpes 1962" on a 1959 Carrera 1500 GS
        Christian Poirot was a gentleman Driver from Mulhouse in Alsace
        He was a great amateur of Porsche
        After the 1500 GS that he raced until 1963, he bought a 904 and then a 906 and a 910
        He raced 3 times the 24 Hours Le Mans race
        He ended his pilot carrier on a 911 RSR in 1976
        Christian Poirot died some years ago
        In 2012 his son was at the Le Mans Classic with his father 906

          Christian Poirot started racing in 1960
          This pic represent him racing with a friend the Doctor Guillemin on a 1500 Carrera GS at the Liege Rome Liege 1960
          I wonder if the car seen on the above pic is not the same he bought to his friend
          Back to the 60's a race car was still competitive for many years

                            Claude Storez killed himself at the same rallye four years later (1959) at the wheel of his Zagato speedster (for those who don't know read the story of this car in the September/October issue of the Registry magazine)

                                In fact Gilberte Thirion attended this rallye in April 1952 with her father Max Thirion
                                They finished the rallye 7th overall and 2nd in class
                                If you look carefully the below picture (courtesy Jacques Mertens porsche356sl.com) you will discover that Gilberte car wear the rallye plate number 207
                                So why the rallye plate 216 on the above pic
