These 2 pilots entered this same car at the 1957 Tour de France Automobile
5700 km in 5 days with competitions on closed roads (speciales) and race track (circuit)
The white Carrera speedster finished the race at the 6th place overall in the GT division behind 4 off Ferrari 250GT at the 1-2-3 and 5th places and a 300 SL gullwings at the 4th place
Not bad for a 1600 cc car
Furthermore at the end of this race that only 37 car finished out of the 136 who started this car had covered 9200 km in race conditions

The car wear the number 66 a different number of the 3 well known numbers
Number 4 Liege Rome Liege 1957 overall winner
Number 70 Rallye du Mont Blanc 1957 overall winner
Number 143 Tour de france autmobile 1957 number 6 overall 1st indice de performance
Then it should be the Rallye Lyon Charbonnieres 1957 for which In have found no picture
Herewith a new one of this care at the Tour de france auto

Another question :
Is this car who was used as donnor car by Zagato to built the special 356 whose which Claude storez killed himself in 1959 ?
The plate number 79 FS 75 tells that this car was registred in Paris in 1956
The Zagato special wear the plate 209 HE 75 which correspond to an end 58/early 59 car
Normally if the white sppedster was the donnor car the Z

Is this car who was used as donnor car by Zagato to built the special 356 whose which Claude storez killed himself in 1959 ?
The plate number 79 FS 75 tells that this car was registred in Paris in 1956
The Zagato special wear the plate 209 HE 75 which correspond to an end 58/early 59 car
Normally if the white sppedster was the donnor car the Zagato special should have kept the original 79 FS 75
I will shortly tell you the mysterious story of this Zagato special who has disapeard and never found since after Claude Storez accident despite the possibility to repair this car

Very interesting theory Gerard! His old Carrera speedster could very well have been this Zaggato roadster rebody. I believe you said this was a 4-cam car? After the wreck was this car scrapped or is it still in existence? Maybe Steve H. can shed some light on this? Great post, thanks! JustinJustin Rio

Hi Justin
Hi Pat
Thanks for your encouragements
Indeed Claude Storez Zagato special despite the fact that the car seems easily reparable has never been seen since the 1959 fatal accident
May be the car was just sold in pieces
Certainly the 4 cams Fuhrmann engine had easily found a new home
That's the reason why Zagato has rebuilt a clone of this car for Erb Wetanson
The original documents having desappeard, as the original car, the dwgs for the rebuilt were established by scanning pictures of the car
This reconstruction has been done with Porsche factory agreement which is very rare
As for the original the car was built starting from a real 356 cab
Only notable difference Erb Wetanson car is fitted with a push rods engine not a 4 cams as the original car
Herewith some pics taken from the Porsche 356 club

The 2 1959 photos above represent Claude Storez at the wheel of his Zagato special
The first one was taken at the start of the rallye des routes du Nord in February 1957
As you may see he his driving is open car with nothing to protect his head
The second pic represent the car at the start of the Reims circuit race
The Zagato is along the Ferrari 250GT of Pierre Noblet (famous French Ferrari driver still alive to day)
At the start the Zagato was ahead of the Ferrari, but very quickly Noblet took the lead
At the end of the start straight specttators saw the ZZagato
