Note the farmer hard at work in the background. Luckily the wind was blowing the other way.

Cool 914 racer with a story. #4702900065 is the first 914 brought into the US in the summer of 1969. It was used to show dealers what a 914 would look like, then they realized it wasn't legal in the US as it was a European model. At this time not knowing what to do with it & no funds were available to return it to Stuttgart, it made it's way to Summit Point raceway in West Virginia to be used as school car for instruction. It has been raced in scca for 40 years very successfully. Now owned by Steve Limbert who is Air Cooled Racing.

Next up is one of the first dozen factory 914-6 gt. It finished second in class at the 1971 24 hours of Daytona plus lots of other history. Now owned by Steve Limbert also. When I first pulled in I thought "wow a cool tribute car" but it is the real deal.

Funny story with this one. Bob who mapped out our rally has a brother who owns this truck & lives a mile down the road. He stopped by & while we were hanging in the shop somebody calmly asked "who owns that truck in the drive. It moving backwards." As we all ran out there, sure enough it was moving slowly. He parked it & left it in gear since the parking brake did not work. I guess not enough compression to hold it on the hill so it would move back, then stop, then roll a little more, etc. A log placed behind the tire fixed that issue. Nice survivor truck with very little rust.
