Well Folks.
The CotG show is a fleeting memory.
The marque this year was Ferrari and there were a bunch of them. All told I would say that some 250-300 European cars were presented on the lawn at the New Kent Winery that is about 20 miles East of Richmond.
Folks who just want to look at cars can buy a $10 ticket and those that want to sip wine as they stroll the grounds pay probably $25 or $35.
Several Wineries are there to offer their grapes!
The weather was perfect this year with nice blue skies and temps in the low 70s.
We had 5 356s show for OUR class.
A nice 1957 356A Coupe, two 1961 Roadsters, a 1965 T6 Coupe and a 1965 Cab.
The Blue Roadster beat me out for 1st in class. He has just finished a car that he has been working on for several years and it is pretty.
Each winner gets a bottle of their red wine.
I was awarded Original Owner, however I told them I am not an Original Owner, but they figured 49 years and 11 months was close enough!
I got the traditional bottle of red wine in a wood case having the from glass etched nicely.
I didn't quibble!
In presenting the awards they do a nice job by having each winner drive thru the reviewing stand, announce the person and car, take their picture and present the wine.
Just like Pebble Beach-almost!
This is a shot of some of the other cars and folks on the lawn.
The Lufteknic Porsche shop that restored my Roadster and where I try to lend a hand always has their tent and nice display.
The 1969 912 that we just finished was front and center on display. This must have been Deane's honeymoon since he told me they just got married prior to the show.
This is the fifth year since the Roadster has been done that I have attended. It is always a great place to meet folks. I can't believe the number who came up and said, I used to own a 356 but I let it go several years ago!
They walk away sad!
Fontana 356 Holiday is next on the list!
Dick
