Due to 3 very busy weeks I did not had the time to post the third part of this topic due to be dedicated to the Le Mans Classic historical race
Although this event had happen 5 weeks ago and as I had prepared all the pics to do it I have decided to show it as this event only happen once every 2 years and if I don't di it now I will have to wait until 2016 to talk about it
So only 3 weeks after the FIA sport cars 24 hours of le Mans (14/15/06/2014)who this year with the return of Porsche had attract a record number of spectators (263.000)

Unfortunately the 2 new Porsches did not succeed to fin ish the race and the victory went to their cousin Audi who made 1 and 2, Toyota being third

As you may see only 32 cars out of the 55 starters completed the 24 hours
which proove that this race is still very demanding

So July 4th/5th and 6th only 3 weeks after the 24 hours race, Le Mans was again busy for a whole week with the 7th edition of the Le Mans Classic historic race.
This race who claim to be the largest historic race in the world is only organised once every 2 years since 2002
The track is the same than the one used for the standard 24 hours race ie the non permanent long 13.3 km circuit who utilise a part of the 3.3 permanent Bugatti race track (in dot on the 2 below pics)and roads open to normal traffic closed for the race, which for the Le Mans inhabitants mean another whole week of huge traffic

Every edition of this historic race attract more and more competitors and spectators (125.000 spectators this year) and more than one year before the competitor list was full

This event last 3 days
Friday is used for the practice races and qualifications
Saturday and Sunday 450 cars split in 6 different grids by age
grid 1 cars from 1923 to 1939
grid 2 cars from 1949 to 1956
Grid 3 cars from 1957 to 1961
Grid 4 cars from 1962 to 1965
Grid 6 cars from 1966 to 1971
Grid 6 cars from 1972 to 1979

To be accepted into the race a car had to be similar to cars who really attended the Le Mans race
A special reward is given to cars who did participate to one or several past edition
