Justin - Did you notice the Polo motors in the silver and red cars?

I like the look of the Devin so I read up on it. Wouldn't it be considered a kit car? Or is it something special? From what I gather Devin built numerous cars & used other drivetrains as well but mostly you would buy a roller & finish it yourself.

Both, kit car and something special. Although...I wouldn't consider a Devin a kit car in the same way that we think of the Speedster kit cars of today. The difference being that a Devin was an option you could have bought/built back in the day, similar to some of the coachbuilt VW's. I'm really glad the owner brought it out!

I did Trevor, the red one I got a ride in a while back with Dean and the silver I believe someone said Dean showed up in at this show...All very cool! Were there any others with his motor? Justin

Yeah I talked to the owner of the red one, I recognized it from a previous Dana Point show and the YouTube videos. He said he just recently had some work done to the heads and now it really moves. It sure sounded good when he was leaving!

Dean was there driving the silver car, I briefly mentioned to him that my friend Justin Rio was building one of his motors and he said, oh yeah, that's going to be a great one. With a big smile.

I saw one other car, a silver/grey Speedster with a Polo motor. It was at Dana Point last year, but not running, they had some issue. When he won an award last year they had to push it up to the front of the row of cars to collect his award. He got heckled a little, but in a friendly/joking way. All in good fun!

When I was helping get the cars in this year so Jeff and Pete could get them parked, he struck up a conversation with me and said this year if it wins, we're driving it. He won an award this year again (not sure for what) but this time the car ran, but I think Dean was driving and the owner was the passenger.

All around a fun day - about as good as it gets. There were just so many cars to see. Next year, you're coming for sure!!!

Oh yeah, Dean was telling me a while back that they upgraded the heads on that car. Glad you hooked up with him; just a great all around guy! I am most certainly going next year, I was so depressed on that Sunday to still be in Nevada. I'll also try and make it to Jack's next event too. Let me know if you remember. Thanks again! Justin
