What are some other cars/ bikes do you own/Love? Here are my other two non-porsche related projects.





This is the only other classic car that was a must have on my list. The 1962 Corvette roadster. My uncle had one in 1980 and his car made a lasting impression on me. I always wanted one after a few very memorable rides in his. I bought this 3 years ago out of Michigan. Just an old well used driver with a non-matching motor. Its perfect just to tool around in right now.



Last is my 1992 Toyota 4WD pickup. I love this thing and have had it for 17 years. It was a roll-over wreck when I bought it. Greg again helped me rebuild it. I don't like full size trucks but I do like the power of a V8. I have an LT4 corvette engine with an NV4500 5-speed manual trans. and an Advanced adapters kit to mate it with a Toyota transfer case. Just have to make time to do the conversion. Once its done it will be my ideal truck!

Being a retired person with all four kids raised and through college the wife and I now can enjoy are love for classic cars. The wife's daily driver without car seats for the grand kids (no seat Belts) is a 1965 formula S Barracuda 273 Hipro, automatic, her other driver is a 1965 Ford Falcon 4 dr. sedan, 289V8 3on the tree which we have owned since 1974. My cars are my 55 Speedster and a 1964 Barracuda 273 V8 w/4speed which is what I'm getting ready to build now that the Speedster is on the road, my daily driver is a 1984 Chevy 1/2T 4x4 pickup. My kids are into classic cars also which keeps me busy they have 1966 Mustang coup, oldest daughter's car, 1969 Camero 2nd daughter's car, 1971 Dodge Charger son's car. My youngest daughter is on the hunt for a VW Bug or Karman Ghia convert. but with kids getting ready for entering high school and looking at college for them it may be a while before she gets it. unless find a project one to do for her. Well that is car car bug story. George

The XK looks amazing Gordon! Which is harder to restore? XK or 356?

Hi George, Very nice group of classic American Iron. Looks like they all run. My father had 66 ranchero pickup. I remember alot of the parts being exactly the same as a Mustang. Justin

The XK was a lot tougher build, more complicated car plus you have
a convertible top to do. XK parts are harder to come by.
My 356 is easier to research, more written on how to do,plus bigger
following. If you get stuck just ask and
someone has done it before.
That why I stay close to a forum like this.

Gordon, that restoration looks absolutely amazing! More difficult than a 356 huh? Even more impressive when I think about all the problems my car has and is still giving me! Wow, Gordon your Jag is gorgeous, so classy!

I've got a love for old looooooong Caddy's. Because I live in SoCal, I always wanted a convertible Caddy to cruise up and down PCH. A few years ago I bought a 67 Coupe de Ville from a bartender down in Pacific Beach. He told me that it helped him "close the deal", I told him "hopefully not in the car".

Anyway I have been doing things to it over time: powder coated the convertible frame, replaced the top with a nice glass window, bought new wheels, re-did all the brakes and most recently pulled the engine and trans and rebuilt the engine myself in the garage. Next on the list is going to be cutting out the rust in the lower body and welding in new metal. I just learned how to TIG weld.

I have to admit it's hard to devote time to my 356 when this one is running and driving... and it being the summertime. Hopefully after summer I'll dive into my 356 again.

Here is an old Hot Rod I had in High school that I dated my wife in.
Same car and same girl 50 years later. rebuilt the roadster couple of years ago. brings back a lot of memories.
I ran it at the local drag strip.

This is one great post! The first photo is just classic "Americana" I love it!!! I spent several minutes just taking it all in. So incredible and neat to see all three of you still together after 50 years! you really made a rightious streetrod out of it in the end; just beautiful! Has your story ever been published in the Rodders Journal? If it hasn't you definitly need to submit it. What was your best time on the drag strip? I assume that '56 210 post in the driveway was your parents car? I'll bet you had all sorts of dreams of turning that into a gasser with zoomies and fiberglass flip front end?? Hey Gordon, Thanks for sharing the pictures, I enjoyed the pic's of the Jag what a beautiful car job well done. It was great seeing the improvement you did to your high school ride. It is amazing what we can do when the family is raised and we have the money. I've been lucky and also keep the car the wife and I dated in my 55 Speedster which I purchased my senior year. The car prior to that way a 49 Chevy sedan which dad and I customized with 49 Lincoln tail lights, frenched headlights, lovered hood you know the way things were done in the 50's & 60's. Now I have a 64 & 65 Barracuda and then just finished the wife's 65 Falcon.
Well just wanted to say thanks for sharing enjoy your rides and have a great summer. George
