I wonder if George noticed that himself before your posting here?
Funny, I've only noticed that Gordo's avatar had him standing next to a Porsche model subsequent to those the club and the magazine he publishes as an NFP club Officer and a FP club magazine Publisher tend to feature.....to me, it seems he is practice-posing for his next gig.
I got my literally last magazine and found it more 4-cam oriented than usual, if not ever. It will, of course, appeal to the hoards of 4-cam-curious and a few of the 4-cam-check-writers and the one or two other 4-cam DIY folks out there and of course introduce already over-booked Jacques to those who will now further waste his time. But, I've been guessing for a while now that it must be getting very difficult to find new 'stuff' about a 50+ model of car and marveled at how well Gordon had been doing with that challenging task. The latest issue was a very educational and entertaining scraping of the barrel and it may be a shame that I won't see the next rabbit out of Gordo's hat.
Funny, in the "too little, too late" department, I read that George Dunn had a "brainchild" that was a little out of wedlock. I used to 'discuss' (argue in a respectful and friendly way) about engaging younger members, years ago, when we would have our regular talks. I would strongly urge him to put a priority on "passing the torch" and getting the perspective of the "next gen" on the primary and predominant 356 club with concerns on communication and governance issues.
I have always been a proponent of Term Limits to get the few who vote to wake up and decide among candidates new to them and not just pull the Party lever year after year....but alas, the overview seems to show nothing but superficial progress in that regard. An acronym too much like "YMCA"? How's the Financial Oversight Committee doing, a few years in the making? Is a Round 2 going to function without a lawsuit to see ALL the money records and receipts? Is it only Full Transparency if the company issued blinders are worn?
A few years ago, a "lifer" trustee, 356 professional and past-prez Bob Campbell posted an angry politically-charged piece on the R-forum about Bill Sampson, Al Zim...and me, for wanting to know more about the business end of the Registry..a designed deflection to avoid direct answers to our questions. He declared that "Enough is Enough".....well, back at'cha, Bob. Forty years has been more than enough for me.

I'm done. Hated to do it, but there needs to be change in the way the Registry is run and I cannot support the status quo by subscribing to a magazine in the meantime. Of course, a few will wonder what happened and others will tap a keg or pop a cork toasting my departure, but I don't/can't give a flying....... FWIW, if anyone should care, here is my last posting on the Registry site:

Having posted regularly in the past and not having posted for quite a while, I thought it appropriate to say goodbye to friends and those who used to be friends in the Registry. (You know who and which you are I was greeted with this when I logged in for my last post:
"Your membership is expiring in 2 days, click here to renew."
No renewal this year, but I can re-something in the future (if 'approved') and if I do, I will not expect #154, but what's in a number? That was a second number assigned to me but I was well within the first 100 to join the Registry.
Over the many years, I contributed what I could as I could and I'm very proud of that. However, forty continuous years is just another number as well. Maybe too long, but at least I'm leaving on my own terms. Call it reaching my own 'term limit.'
I cannot be just another subscriber. Many thousands are happy with that non-car club participation and that's their prerogative but I am not a good spectator.
I'll end this with what Bob Campbell posted about me (including two others, then members) a few years ago......"Enough is enough." Yep, it is. Backatcha.

Bruce, I'm sorry it has come to this. I can imagine after all these years that it was a difficult decision. Unfortunately I don't think the powers that be on the R site will change until father time makes them.
Thanks for posting here though as we are all better because of your knowledge.Mic

It's an honor to be able to consider you a friend. Your contributions to this hobby are invaluable. Leadership should have gone out of its way to make you (and at least one of the other two unnamed members you mention) feel welcome. Instead the co-called leaders went out of their way to drive you away, unappreciative as they are of your innumerable contributions. Thank you for those. It is the "club's" loss.

Mic, Bill and all, it was a difficult decision to pull the plug on the Registry after all those years, but Justin's site here has helped ease the 'pain'. This site is not trying to call itself a "club" but it's a gathering of wonderful disparities of Porsche interests and more like a fraternal collection of Porsche crazies.
It's 'fun'!!!!
I truly want to say that I learn as much as anyone in the 356 hobby or business, even after 50 years of exposure, mentoring and studying...by participating in forums like this. I usually get more out of this than I put in.
Justin shows what 'camaraderie' is. Thank you for that, Justin, again and again.

ABCGT is a great site for the knowledge and content. It stands on it own very well, thanks to Justin's work and the folks that participate. Some of the threads appeal to me more than any other 356 content I have seen on the internet.
Now I will go back to one of the good threads to learn something about a car.Ashley Page
