That is Steve Wright's 356. The chap at the back is Ian Clark who has developed the engine to 176hp! As you can see it gets raced!
Very impressive! Is that rated at DIN horsepower or SAE Horsepower?

The reason I ask is because SAE is what we Yanks use over here to rate our Muscle cars and the like and measures actual HP to a slightly higher standard than the DIN scale.

Thanks for sharing some background on this car Neil!

Here is the very long thread with the HP test being on the last 5 pages. It was measure at the wheels so I would assume SAE?

                • I assume the blue roadster in 23712 is mid-engine, correct? What sort of engine/power?

I'll try to find a photo Gerry but no its still in stock configuration. It certainly could have and should have been flipped over to mid-engine.
I believe its a stock 356 motor as well.

                            • Hi Ashley
This pic was taken in April 2011 in the Paris Tuileries garden were the 2011 Tour Auto competitors were parked the day before the start
I have found several other pics of this car but unfortunately not

                              • 2011 Tour auto was a very good year for the 356's

At least 8 off 356 were amongst the 250 selected competitors
Unfortunately with the increasing value of these cars less and less people are enclined to risk their 356 in such a hard race
The Tour Auto is so popular that at to day's date the entry list for the 2015 edition to be held April 20th/April 25th is closed since several months, and only 4 off are on this list
