Two Abarth Carrera did race the 1961 Le Mans 24 hours
The second Abarth race number 36, the factory 1013, driven by Ben Pon/Herbert Linge did finish the race 10th overall and first in the 1.6 class some 46 laps behind the winner

For the small history interesting to note that Robert Buchet was driving his personnal car 1002, car he destroyed a year later on that same race track during the 1962 Tour Auto
Pierre Monneret (a former famous motorbyke pilot) was the first owner of 1009 the car that belong to day to Claude Ruiz Picasso (another French blue abarth)
another pic of 1002 at the 1961 Le Mans race
A scale model of 1002
Interesting the exhaust similar to the Fiskens car and also the catadiopres under the behives lights

Last point in nfavor of this car being a fake, is that this car was painted and decorated as 1002 the Sonauto car at the 1961 Le Mans 24 Hours driven by Robert Buchet and Pierre Monneret
This car was DNF
