    • There seems to be four 550 spyders entered this year. Unfortunately the 3 from State of Art are not included.

366 Andreas & Nathalie Pohl (550-15)(original MM entrant)
      385 Wim & Achile Van Gierdegom (550-0016)
387 Ernst von Baumbach (550-0059)(original MM entrant)
      396 Jacky Ickx & Karl-Friedrich Scheufele (factory spyder - 550-04 or 550-0064)

      • 550-11 in flames.

Nothing left---well---the data plate is with a friend in San Francisco.

Still, a 'car' purporting to be 550-11 has been in Europe for some years.

        • re 550-08

I think very highly of Randy L. And, I know the source of the reference he made. And, his analysis is wrong. Wendler did not build 550-08. Weinsburg did.

And, Wendler did not build 718-044, 045 and 046: Reutter did.

          • And the trail goes on...

This information is from Michael Blendl, Ludwig's son, who ran a Porsche shop in Munich:

"Ludwig Blendl had a 550 Spyder that he crashed at Schauinsland. He was asking for a fast replacement and got a Speedster chassis with all the Carrera options. He took most parts from the Spyder to make it run. The rest was sold to Otto Mathe in Austria."

            • Yes, I interviewed Michael about three years ago in Munich. The Speedster spare was 12306 as we have been discussing. and, the 550 was 550-07 (with the 07 frame plate placed over 043 as we have discussed). And, yes, to Mathe--basically the frame. The only debate really is as to how much aluminum went to Mathe. Michael told me basically none. Anyway, the frame really is 043 and the car, registered as 07, was the third iteration of 07 and little left after the fire.

              • Cegga Porsche Update

                Hello all,

I handle research for Steve Heinrichs and he has asked me to provide the information we have for Cegga Porsche. I have been reviewing the bits of documentation that we have found over the years. I currently believe the Cegga Porsche was a 904-based car. I have found one small note on the internet that mentions it may have been a 904 or a 356. In addition, I have recently found it listed as a 718-based car. It raced in the 1965 GP Angola with the 904 class cars. At 1000 km Nurburgring, it raced in the P2.0 class. The pilots (de Siebenthal, Cuenod, Peixinho) raced together in this car.

                • Steve, Reutter may have built 718-045 and 046, but I'm pretty sure Wendler did 718-044, part of the 4 factory RS-60 cars.
