In 1998 the Monterey Historics celebrated 50 years of Porsche. If you were a Porsche nut you had to be there, and I was. Plenty of amazing cars and I was taking pictures of everything.
Anyway I was in the Porsche parking area (this is for street cars, nothing special) and we were looking at a 550. Who drives a 550 on the street and leaves it unattended? Don't know, but there it was. Understand this was not a replica. I took a few pictures and continued to watch the racing going on. Eventually a couple came back to the car, jumped in and drove off. Seriously cool!







I figure Steve H. will know this car, maybe he can tell us something about it.

Hans Hermann and Herbert Linge gain their popularity not only because this 1954 year they win their class but because to save time they went under train crossing barriers just before the train arrive.

This same 1954 year Hans Hermann finished 3rd overall and 1st in class in the Carrera Panamericana race in Argentina
