  • This 550A Spyder was converted into a 'Merlyn' Porsche which was raced by Miles Gupton in the 1964 season. Does anyone know the chassis number of the original 550A?

    • Another modified 550 which looks like it is driven by Jo Bonnier.

As you can see in this photo showing the rear of the car, it looks like one of the prototypes

This is highly possible that it is the 1954 Avus spyder - 550-14 which has no other documented race history.

        • The car is actually 550-13 which was owned, crashed and repaired with a new nose by Joe Playan. It must have been sold to Bonnier or Porsche Systems Engineering (Porsche AG) which he raced for. The track is somewhere in SoCal and around 1960. This photo shows a 550A and also RSK in the lineup. I cannot find any documented grid/results with these 3 Porsches. Any help appreciated...

I guess you need a good frame to hang it correctly

                          • Hello Everyone,

Steve Heinrichs has asked me to respond. We believe this is 550-01, after 1953 Le Mans and before 1953 Carrera Panamericana.
