Regarding 27873, I doubt that this is -12, as, when I oversaw an extensive body restoration in 1997-8, the '54 LeMans nose, with recessed driving lamps, was very much intact. The car did come to my shop, I was told, out of Argentina, via a rather circuitous route. We need to ask which later prototype had that nose, and may have found it's way to Argentina?Gerry McCarthy

The only one of the later prototypes that did not have the fitted lights was 550-09, but I doubt it was this one. As the race was much later, it is hard to figure out the whereabouts of these cars. I found the photo from a reliable source who was supposedly with the car at the time and identified it as 550-12. Here is a later image of 550-09
